Similar to potatoes au gratin, these are tastier and quicker. Cooking on the stove top with a cover allows for the moisture to soak into the potatoes rather than steam out. These are super simple and quick to make so when you get home from a long day at work a quick prep, put them on the stove top and wind down while dinner takes care of itself.
- 2 Large Potatoes
- 1/2 Onion
- 1 tbsp Canola Oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 Cup Water
- 1/2 Cup Cheeze Sauce
Hardware
Mixing Bowl
Sturdy Knife
Large Skillet
Chopping Board
Measuring Cup, tbsp and tsp
Spatula
Aluminum Foil or Lid for your Skillet
Time 1 hour
Prep 10 minutes
Cooking 50 minutes
Yield 8 servings
Time To Get Cooking!!!
Start by scrubbing your potatoes and removing anything unappetizing
You can also peel your potatoes if that is more your style
Pat dry and then slice about 1/4 inch thick slices and throw into your mixing bowl
Now, cut onion into slightly thinner slices than the potato
Pull apart and toss into mixing bowl with potatoes
Add oil, paprika, salt and black pepper into mixing bowl with onions and potatoes
Toss together until the vegetables are coated as evenly as possible
In you skillet lay down the slices and stack until all vegetables are in the skillet
Cover with lid or tin foil and leave for 20 minutes on medium
You will want to check once or twice to make sure the heat is right and the vegetables are not getting scorched
Meanwhile, quickly rinse and dry the mixing bowl
Mix together cheeze sauce and water
Pour over vegetables in the skillet and spread around to make sure it is even
Lid again and let simmer for 20 minutes
After 20 minutes remove lid and leave uncovered for 10 more minutes
Sprinkle with extra pepper and paprika then serve
Serving
8 servings can be cut like pie slices.
Storing and Reheating
Store in a container in the fridge for up to 1 week. We do not suggest storing in the freezer to prevent mushy potatoes. To reheat simply put into microwave or in skillet on the stove top and heat until warm throughout
