Black beans and brownies are probably not the most common foods you would imagine for breakfast. These have the chewiness and delicious brownie taste without the bad fats and are great for getting going in the morning. Not to mention they are great for a quick pre-workout snack thanks to the carbs and protein.
Shopping List
- 1 Cup Flour
- 1/4 Cup Sugar-in-the-Raw
- 1 TBSP Honey
- 1/4 TSP Salt
- 1/2 TSP Baking Powder
- 3 TBSP and 1 TSP Baking Cocoa
- 3 TBSP Black Bean Puree
- 1 cup water or milk
Hardware
Cake Pan
Measuring Cup, TBSP, and TSP
Spatula
Mixing Spoon
Fork or Whisk
2 Mixing Bowls
Time 40 Minutes
Prep 10 Minutes
Cook 30 Minutes
Yield 8 Slices
Time To Get Baking!!!
In one mixing bowl mix in flour, baking powder, cocoa, sugar and salt
In a separate mixing bowl whisk together black bean puree, honey, and water
Add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until fully incorporated
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
Grease your baking dish with your preferred method of non-stick
Pour the brownie mix into the baking dish, using the spatula to get as much as you can
When the oven is ready insert your baking dish and set the timer for 30 minutes
Once time is up remove from oven and cool before serving
Serving
1 slice for breakfast or before a workout with fruit or alone
Storing and Reheating
Store in a zip top bag in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 2 months

-Nutritional information will be slightly difference if you choose to use milk instead of water
-Make the batter ahead of time so you just have to pour in the baking dish and bake
-Batter can also be used to make flapjacks
