Keto Raspberry Mojito

Being a (predominantly) keto eater, going to the lake always gives me the urge for a refreshing cocktail (or 5, but I digress). My in-law's Lakehouse has been taken over by mint so mojitos or some mint themed drink is always a must. I recently had started drinking flavoured sparkling water and decided to give it a whirl. Instead of rum I used vodka to cut down on (some) of the sugars.


1 Oz Vodka
6 Oz Sparkling Soda
4 large leaves fresh mint
*If you prefer to use plain carbonated soda you might want to get lime or lemon just to give your mojito some flavour.

At least a 12 oz glass is best for this cocktail
A shaker if you have one. If you don't, your hand as a lid will be fine.

Since I am one for quick drinks that don't make a mess I didn't mind not using a shaker for this quick cocktail. *If you decide to use a shaker simply make sure to transfer your drink into the glass before adding the sparkling soda and more ice.

In your glass* drop in a handful of ice and rip up your mint leaves into the glass. Using one hand "cap" the top the glass while using the other to hold it. Shake hard for 30 seconds.

Place back on counter and add in vodka. Swirl a bit to loosen the ice up. 

Pour in soda and add in fresh ice on top. Top with extra mint or lime. 🍹

           I was also able to time it so that all of their freshest products were available. Always try to find out when your preferred store gets in new shipments and restocks. You'll find the freshest produce and the best cuts of meat for the same prices as the less preferred meat since the best meats runs out first. Lastly, ALWAYS CHECK SELL BY DATES! ALWAYS. Stuffed Jalapenos...again :D

You could say we are pretty obsessed with stuffed jalapeños around here. This new recipe is very similar to our original recipe, but it has more fat from the added bacon grease. No one should ever waste bacon grease. I originally posted it "live" on my insta story (FOR.EVER.AGO) and just decided to "why not" post it on here. Fire Sauce Hot Wings

When UFC night hits so does our craving for buffalo wings. That was a lie. When LIFE hits so does the craving for buffalo wings.

It really stinks when you have everything BUT enough Louisiana sauce to fully coat the wings. We like them saucy so the sauce is so important. Good thing we horde Taco Bell sauce like it is the...uh...tacobell-lypse. Using the Taco Bell sauce cuts down your time int eh kitchen as well. Instead of having to mix in any powdered ingredients all you have to do is; melt, pour, stir and you're down!

Going back to Keto

Hi all!✋✋

💥It has been awhile since I posted anything-outside of the odd recipe- and the point of me getting started with blogging was to track where I am with hitting my goals for this year.

Well a quick update!
💥I have lost weight since November and in the form of fat. About 4 pounds in total which turned out to be 3% of my total body fat so yay!!! I have also increased in strength and leanness.

The Busy Paradox

It feels as I get older or just how the world is now - IDK I am only 29 here- If you aren't busy you aren't living life...yet being busy gets in the way of living life. Quite the paradox?

 It feels like everyone is in competition or trying to one up someone else when they claim they are busy...
E.g. "You think two kids, cleaning, and two soccer games is busy? Well I had to take Tommy to work because the car needed to go to the shop. I dropped the car at the shop and had my mom pick me up and we went to brunch, which we had to rush through because Sarah's daycare is only half day. After that Sarah had ballet practice on one side of town and I had a hair appointment on the other side of town."...you get the picture. 

It seems the busier the better. I felt like if I wasn't moving, I was wasting time. If I wanted to do something I was always thinking about what I would have to give up. Most of the time it fell on my health first and relationships second. 

Getting back into fitness is what has made me want to slow down and just enjoy life. The whole point of me getting fit is so I have the energy to do that. So what in the world am I so 'busy' with stuff that doesn't bring me joy? WHY I ASK YOU!!??!! 

I'll tell you why. Because the busier the better. 

So I am taking this month to change that mindset.

Why I'm not doing a January challenge

Short answer is: Nope.
Long answer is: Sort of.
Did I want to? Kinda. Were there a ton of opportunities to join one? Oh my yes. Could I have created one myself? You betcha! So why didn't I?
Maybe it was to not be cliche? Maybe because most of the challenges required a monetary investment and weren't worth it (for me anyway)?

Top 6 Resolutions for 2017

With the New Year of 2017 in its infancy and the fact that I started to think about my resolutions in November, I have finally narrowed it down to 6 resolutions. Why 6 resolutions? Well I also have 6 goals, so you could say my numbers are symbolic considering 6+6=12 and there are 12 months in one year. I truly believe I can stick to these resolutions because they are actual resolutions.
